November 20, trail running! 7 miles. Let me write that in Spanish. Novembero 20, !trail running! 2000 kilometeros. For a science and engineering guy, I admittedly have a poor grasp of the metric system. And frankly, that Spanish translation doesn't seem right either.
The grand total is 35 miles, 27 of those running.
This was very needed, I haven't been in the woods for a while. I went to Ha Ha Tonka for the long loop across from the park. It was a warm day and at first I regretted the hiking shorts, wishing instead I had brought regular running clothes. Next time if it's warm I may opt to do that and leave the camelbak in the car as well. It isn't that much weight but it bounces around terribly. I started well, and only walked for brief spells on the uphills. My legs felt much better than during the last trail run. Had some Shinedown going, Diamond Eyes. It's like a rock opera with thundering riffs for five soaring minutes and it made me almost run to the point of up-chuckery a few times. Shaved 20 minutes off of my last run at Ha Ha Tonka, which was admittedly the first one of the season, but I'm still embarrasingly slow and so I won't mention my time in public. I would like very much to keep trail running all winter and spring and run in the Leadville trail marathon for my birthday next year. All in all a blissful day of bombing downhills and shooting through the countryside. I love trail running like a crackhead loves crack. It might kill me but I would sell the neighbor's furniture for it. :P
That would be so cool, a trail marathon!
