Sunday, March 6
A lively four miler at Fellows Lake. Not much to say, except that it was a beautiful evening out there. The totals are 87 miles total, 67 miles running.

Wednesday, March 2
Trail running, 5 miles. The totals are 83 miles, with 63 of them running, I had a little math error I corrected on the running. Hey, I was tired that night!
What a fantastically beautiful day! I was still hindered by some car issues that kept me local, so burning a vacation day to go to the woods turned into burning a half day to go to the somewhat more local woods. I hit the Fellows Lake trail and kept a very nice average mile time for a five mile run. Nice for me at least, I beat my last time substantially, even though I've had virtually no exercise in a month. But it was nice, and it was warm, and I didn't sprain anything, so it was truly a great day to be in the woods. A good night of climbing followed and I think it's safe to say I've earned this glass of wine.

Tuesday, March 1
2 miles of running. I felt a lot better, my legs were tired from lifting but they chugged along much more readily than the previous night. The park was quiet and the stars were beautiful. Ah, spring. The totals are 78 miles, with 56 miles of running.

Sunday, February 27
Walking with a backpack, 2 miles, running, 3 miles. The totals are now 76 miles with 54 miles of running. And it has been a while. I haven't been completely inactive, just too lazy to blog about it.
It's a nice night and I think there's a bicycle that needs some warming up somewhere around here, so this might get longer.

Monday, January 17
Trail running, 5 miles. The totals are 71 miles, 54 miles of running.
I sprained my ankle again! Same one! The rocks and roots on this trail are shallow and hidden by leaves, and are not to be trifled with. Plus I'm currently rocking the trail at about two bills, which doesn't make me more graceful.
It was a lovely day, not too hot, not too cold, a little bit of mud from the recent snow melt made sharp turns interesting, and the solitude of the trail was a welcome thing.

Trail running, 3 miles. Totals are 66 miles altogether, with 49 miles running. There were a few miles of walking before this, but I got lazy about posting them. My goal to walk a mile a day went the way of the dodo with all of the car and insurance foolishness I've had to deal with, but I'm still chipping away at the total. Rolled my ankle twice though. That Fellows Lake trail has some dastardly hidden rocks and roots.

About 1.5 miles each walking Sunday night and running tonight for a total of 63 miles. I've decided to do at least 1 mile every day this year.

5 miles of hiking for a 60 mile total. 2010 can suck it. Welcome, 2011, don't be like 2010. My car is still in the driveway, not due at the body shop until Monday, but a friend from KC, (Hi Steph), was delighted to come down and hang out for the New Year's weekend and we started it off right by spending the first day of the year in the woods of Arkansas. A quick 2 mile hike of Hideout Hollow got us warmed up on a brisk but beautiful winter's day. There are some really cool boulders and a small ravine deep in the valley of the hollow that beg some future exploring when time allows. I have heard that there is a non-technical way to climb down to them, but didn't see it at first look. The sun was still out so we headed to Hemmed-In-Hollow for a trip about halfway down to the falls and back, a dash of about 3 miles that included the steepest part of the monster hill. (I didn't let on that it did, but we hit the steepest part, sorry Steph). Total was 5 miles for a beautiful day in the woods, ending with a sunset over an almost supernaturally quiet valley. I like wintertime in the woods.
